Meet the National Committee that runs People First NZ.

The National Committee meets at least 3 times a year to report on its work in the regions and nationally. The Committee also makes decisions about the work People First NZ does and its spending. The Committee also hears from member representatives on advisory boards and government.



The National Committee is made of of 6 President's, one for each region. The Committee also has two independent, non-voting advisors that provide advice.

Meet the nation-wide team working with members and people with learning disability.

People First NZ has a team of people working across the country. The team assists our members and people with learning disability to speak up about the things that matter to them.

The team includes our National Manager and the national office team, along with regional coordinators and their team leaders.

We also have over 40 Local Assistants that work with the members during meetings as well as Meeting Assistants.

We have 41 local groups and hundreds of members throughout New Zealand.

All of the work that we do is for the People First NZ members. The members are in local groups that meet once a month. 

The meetings are run by members and a local group assistant to decide what they want to do at the meetings.

Members have the opportunity to build their leadership skills.

All of our members at People First NZ regularly show their self-advocacy skills in the way they speak up at local group meetings.



They also have the opportunity to extend these skills and develop leadership and advocacy skills through collaborative learning and sharing their knowledge at regional meetings and leadership forums.

The work we do is run by and for the People First members who are people with learning disability.

The members belong to local groups where they learn about self-advocacy and have opportunities to speak up in their local communities, regional meetings and national networking events.
